Recently among the business community the new fashion came out: the most expensive mobile phones, as a part of business image. Those who can afford- I mean multi millioners, they buy Vertu, Mobiado, the middle class businessman, who are the majority, stick to Nokia 8800 Sirocco.

All this fashion triggers the Chinese manufacturers to produce the fake/copy/replica of the mentioned model. Actually, Chinese copying everything, not only 8800, but everything, ALMOST every brand in particular their own way. Sometimes they produce such good replicas so you can’t even say which one is original which one is replica.

So, let’s discuss the differences/discrepancies I have been faced with regarding the Nokia 8800 sirocco.
The most of the sellers on EBay include the stock photos, but some of them put also original photos of the phone. Here are some discrepancies, which help you to identify the fake or original

• The Chinese made one Nokia 800 Sirocco GOLD edition has most of the times, black keypad – original doesn’t
• The Chinese made mostly are bilingual, means that the menu has only two languages – Chinese (traditional) and English. I have seen it even on “Made in Finland” models
• The Chinese made has the Sirocco engraved at the back steel panel, the original has Sirocco Edition.
• The Back panel of Chinese made is flat, but originals have smooth bulging-in for the thumb.
• The Chinese made has internal memory more that 64 MB, the original has only 64 MB
• It says “Made in Finland” , but came from China or any other Asian country, which makes me personally doubt. Please remember that stiker “Made in Finland” or even “Made on Mars”  cost less that 1 cent

I believe that this will help you to identify. May be I missed something, but you always have a chance to visit official Nokia site and compare the photos there with photos on the sellers.  Please also bear in mind that recently I have noticed a lot of articles on this guide from sellers having 0 feedbacks stating that Nokia 8800 Sirocco is the best phone. Most probably their aim is to attract the buyers to their products.
And at the end - Be very much careful not only when you are searching for Nokia 8800.
