Fiesta Fraud!

CONTEMPORARY VS. VINTAGE

I am writing this in hopes to help you buyers out there to beware of the fiesta NEW VS Vintage Fiesta!

Many times there may be a seller which just really has no clue what he/she is doing. Although, the majority are just plain out to get your money and run.

Here are the signs to watch out for!

1. If a person is selling a item of Fiesta made by the Homer Laughlin Company, make sure the pictures scope in on the base of these items!

2. If a person has a fuzzy or  blurred photo of the item and yet you click on the sellers other items which are picture and pixel perfect STEER CLEAR!

3. Vintage Fiesta DOES NOT HAVE A RAISED letter (H) to the base!!!

4. The pyramid candle holders which some are SO pricey being vintage if they are new also WILL NOT HAVE THE LETTER (H) on the base and the insides will NOT appear to have been spray painted such as overspray from a can.

5. If a person does the old I have no idea how old this item is routine STAY AWAY, item specifics are a MUST on eBay and is a violation should a seller not follow them and describe EXACT AS IS!

6. If a plate has LEAD FREE that item IS NOT VINTAGE!!! IT IS BRAND NEW!!! DO not be fooled!!!

7. ALWAYS check the sizes. BE SUPER careful on the new yellow which is discontinued I have seen people try and pass off as VINTAGE IVORY FIESTA which it is NOT! Especially they do this with the disc pitchers.

8. Any mini pitchers ARE NOT vintage fiesta. Specific size 5.75 inch, there ARE discontinued colors but this is not old stock.

9. People try to pull SHAMROCK green NEW Fiesta off as MEDIUM GREEN-BEWARE!!! Vintage Fiesta  glazes are easy to see uneveness in them such as areas will be darker than others and lighter than others, you can see visible glaze flaws since the firing process they used back then.

10. New Fiesta often has sand bumps or flaws of some sort where as the Vintage Fiesta was checked so careful these were never allowed out of the plant on to the market unlike Fiesta Contemporary which has a SECONDS room at the plant and other places which sell Fiesta new popping up such as the dealer in WV.

11. Fiesta NEW tea pots/ teapots HAVE A BUBBLE TYPE LID!! They are NOT VINTAGE!!! Vintage Fiesta has a FLAT lid medium size teapots OR large teapots even  have steam holes in the top lid on occasions. DO not be fooled by thinking you are buying a  OLD FIESTA pot when it is IN fact NEW!

12.Cobalt blue fiesta that is NEW is SO dark it is almost impossible to read the LEAD FREE to the base although there is a huge difference in new VS. Vintage for the Vintage Cobalt  blue looks like Sapphire not BLACKISH BLUE.

13. Fiesta fakes, I have seen some people try to pass GIBSON CHINA off as Fiesta which here where I live is sold in our local Walmart and rejects in the Dollar Stores!

14. New fiesta and vintage fiesta is sometimes hard for people to see the difference online I suggest you pick a copy of the book written by the Huxfords which have excellent HUGE pictures inside and also show FAKES to beware of!

Basically I have dealt seriously with new and vintage fiesta and have seen my share for a LONG time of people trying to take advantage of the new collectors!

I hate to see people get ripped off especially knowing you have this AWESOME find which has come out to be BOGUS!

Fiesta is very popular and many of those items are priceless on todays market.
