When I first brought my dog home (a 4lb puppy) we had so many decisions to make about his life and health!

Since we are very healthy people we wanted to feed our dog the same way.

After doing lots of research on the best foods for dogs, and conversations with the Vet about what they recommend, I realised there are many people who dont simply feed their dog kibble and nothing more.

A lot of Vet's spend only a few hours learning about the best types of pet food.  A one day course is all they are required to attend! And that course is sponsored by one of the big pet food companies!  Guess how many brands they learn about!  1.

Most pet foods are filled with...well....filler!  Chemicals too!  I made the decision that since I dont put those things into my body, I wasnt going to put them into my dog's body either.

I started making my own dog food - people always laugh at me but I know the risk of diseases and cancers is dramatically lowered by good diet!

My dog food consists of ground chicken or turkey, brown rice, green beans and parsley.  Each plays a specific role in anyone's health - including pets!  I dont measure per se...I just eyeball or use what I have.  If i have 2 cups of green beans...thats what the pot gets this week.  I try not to use too much rice - it is good for dogs but like humans it can make them a little pudgy.

I make a big pot of dog food then put it into smaller containers and freeze them.  Always remember to let any food come down to room temperature before freezing it.  This eliminates the risk of bacteria forming in the middle of the frozen item.

When I feed my dog I also give him a little handfull of all natural dental kibble.  This kibble has no fillers or chemicals in it.  Since dogs love to chomp and chew the kibble helps to keep their teeth clean!

2 big packages of ground chicken or turkey

1 bag of green beans (frozen)

2 cups of cooked brown rice

3/4 cup of dried parsley

Cook the brown rice according to the package instructions.

In a large pot add raw ground meat to 3 tbsp of olive oil.

Cook meat until it is cooked all the way through.

Stir in rice and parsley and green beans.

Let cool to room temperature and freeze.

Watch your dog enjoy!
