A Few Tips For Leaving Feedback For Non-Paying Bidders
DON'T LEAVE POSITIVE FEEDBACK FOR NON-PAYING BIDDERS!!!
Now that Ebay has removed the option for sellers to leave negative or neutral feedback for non-paying bidders, I've noticed that many sellers are leaving positive feedback for non-paying bidders. As sellers we must take into consideration the damage that a positive feedback rating, even with harsh words, can do.
With the old feedback system sellers could leave an accurate feedback rating based on the completion or non-completion of a transaction. The new system has taken away our right to leave appropriate feedback when a buyer does not complete a transaction. Leaving positive feedback with negative words isn't the way to go! A positive feedback rating only adds great feedback to a negative buyer!!! Imagine seeing 15 feedback ratings next to a buyers user id -- and not actually reading the comments -- we are assuming that the person has 15 positive ratings, but half of them could easily be negative or neutral ratings* in disguise. Opening and reading feedback could easily tell us the whole story but how often do we, as sellers, open someone's feedback and read the words? I'm not saying that occasions don't arise, where the comments are actually read, but by then it's usually too late.
An Unsavory Buyer Can Potentially Rack Up Dozens OR MORE Of Positive Feedback's!
I understand that it's hard sometimes to just simply not say anything however, not adding to the positive feedback rating of a buyer appears to be the lesser of two evils. This of course is my own personal opinion and not the opinion of every seller. I am just asking sellers to think very carefully about what you're doing before you leave positive feedback for a non-paying bidder.
*I realize with the new feedback system neutral ratings are not counted against the total feedback rating - therefore negatives disguised as positives will ensure a non-paying bidder's total feedback score will be maintaining a 100% positive rating!
