Are you willing to put your Ebay integrity on the line? I've been an Ebay member for the last several years logging in around ten thousand dollars in purchases. I have 100% positive feedback on items ranging from bulldozers and dump trucks to Cracker Jack knives. I must say that my ebay experiences have been overwhelmingly positive, only leaving one negative feedback.
"Feedback for both sellers and buyers is the underlying foundation for integrity on eBay" is a quote from one of my friends that leads me to the crux of the matter. Recently, I purchased a knife advertised as "big blade has good snap" "no chips". The picture was a little blurry, but a strong bladed vintage knife is what I always carry, so I made the purchase. (Item number: 320065117856) I payed immediately . Shipping was a little slow, so I was lead to make a couple of polite inquires. Both replies were short and defensive. No big deal, no one says Ebayers have to pleasant!
When I received the knife the big blade had chip, it did not snap; and neither blade would completely shut making it impossible to carry. I contacted the seller danhovis to make him aware of the problem. His first reply was, "what did I expect out a hundred year old knife?" and " it was collect not to use". I let him know to I carry a 90 year old knife I bought on Ebay on a daily basis. I went on to add that the knife was misrepresented in his description.
Seeing that his defense of the misrepresented item was illogical I resorted to mentioning negative feed back. His reply was "go for it" I would suffer more from leaving negative feedback than he would. Seemingly, the only truthful statement he made.
I have no remedy for this problem other than sharing my experience with all of the knife lovers on Ebay. I urge other members to make their experiences with feedback bullies known to all. Also,I'm open for advice !
By the way, I sent the knife back to him for his birthday (since he likes looking at old knives). Yeah, he relisted it.
Respectfully,
Rob
