I am finally writing a guide because I feel it's very pertinent to help people like myself who buy and sell things on Ebay with what time we have in addition to full time jobs. I had alot of activity going on....selling 16 things, waiting for payment on 2, bought an item, and had to print shipping labels for 3 as well. (LOTS of activity) I get an email stating: "I don't understand why you won't email me back-what's my tracking number?" I though what's going on? Did I overlook a customer and why does he sure (borderline) upset. Well, I clicked on the item description address for Ebay, where it took me to the page to log in (didn't have an Ebay page open on another browser) and logged in...nothing, notta, zip zilch. I thought this is totally bogus. Well, too late, without even putting 2 and 2 together, they had my id and password for Ebay. What these hackers try to do is go to various other sites thinking (hoping) you use all the same user and passwords for everything, and, THEY GOT YOU! I had a real nice designer bag and wallet listed and they changed to an Apple laptop computer listing, messed it all up. I knew what happened, I was very alarmed. Ebay tried to help as much as they could...ending the listing, informing watchers what had happened, blocked the hacker from further use, and encourgaed me to change my passwords and run a virus scan. Really woke me up, as much as I try to be careful, they got me. You know why? Because it had me log in, and Ebay will never ask you to do that. BE CAREFUL out there! I had so much going on, and try to be so good at my selling, I walked right into thier trap. Please use this word of warning, and never answer any email your not familiar with and always forward them to "SPOOF" they will be investigated and pursued. This was a wake up call, thank goodness no permanent damage was done or money taken from me. WATCH OUT! These people are getting better and better everyday~
