Patent Leather is leather or synthetic material with a special varnish dressing. Such leather is smooth, embossed, or has visible metallic pigments under the varnish layer.

Fashion Leather is creatively designed, for example, with patent leather layers, plushed up fibers, foils or films, metallic pigments or material combinations.

Care:

1. Clean your shoes with mild leather shampoo or mild cleaning foam, and use a good quality brush to remove loose surface dirt. Patent Leather shoes should ALWAYS be cleaned when they are wet. Use a gentle shoe shine cloth to buff your patent and fashion leather shoes/boots.  To remove stains use a stain remover that is specifically formulated for patent or fashion leather. DO NOT store shoes near heat source when wet, as shoes may shrink.

2. Care and Conditioning is best done with products that are specifically formulated for patent and fashion leather. Using these products guarantees that the special look of the material is preserved, and the leather does not crack or lose its shine. A good shoe shine cloth is not only great for buffing your shoes, it also works wonders for the gentle application of shoe creams and conditioners.

3. Water-/Weatherproofing is not necassary, unless you wear your patent or fashion leather shoes outside on a regular basis. If you do wear this type of leather shoe/boot outside, use a specific water-/weatherproofing product for patent/fashion leather.
