Pantone Fall 2006 Fashion Report
- Pantone reports that the European retail market for winter 2006/2007 is showing a transition from bold colors to monochrome. Simple, streamlined, clean, textures. Colors sound like they will be coming from nature again - fruits, flowers, earth, spices, metal, deep grassy and ocean colors, smoky colors, deep purples … the brighter colors used as accents. A lot of dusty, brushed textures. What can this mean to photography? Color trends flow into all aspects of a client’s event - clothes, flowers, decor, food, candles - and affects the entire mood and lighting.
- Just as day turns to twilight, Fall 2006 colors are a subtle deepening of the world around, lit with the final glow of the turning horizon. New York designers have found themselves in a sanctuary of color, filled with the constancy of nightfall.
Pantone Spring 2007 Fashion Report
- New York fashion designers are flourishing in a season of new beginnings, using surprising neutrals with innovative splashes of corals, yellows and purples to create a spring in bloom.Tarragon is the freshly cut stem to the blossoming shades of sweet Strawberry Ice, warm Golden Apricot and violet-infused Hollyhock. Cafe Creme is the rich, creamy contrast to the serenity of calming Sky Blue or the deliciousness of refreshing Grapemist. The yellow glow of gleaming Green Sheen and the blushing beauty of diaphanous Silver Peony reflect the infusion of life brought by spring.
Fashion Trendsetter quoted the Asahi Kasei Spandex Group Europe saying:
“. . . white is in competition [with black] and looking to get front stage this summer and to become the season’s star. Pure, buttery, creamy and tinted. Retro feeling and grandmother’s white linen; whites also as a sign for ‘Kaballa’ influences. Whites and neutrals have traces of color and are here and there accompanied by real colors. Real colors need the neutrals, they move into each others direction and influence each other.”
They also predict that fabrics will lean to the textured, layered, washed, natural effect … almost “geological.”
