I have 2 WEP200s...one purchased on Ebay and one from an authorized Samsung dealer. The one I got on Ebay is fake. Here are the differences...

1. Headset "hook". The fake came with a behind the ear hook, marked "Bluetooth". Not only fake, but cheesy. The real one has no hook, just the silicone ear pieces.

2. Quickstart Guide. Printed in blue, separate from the User Guide...the real one comes with it, the fake does not.

3. The instruction book. Real = professionally printed, glued spine. Fake = cheaper paper, crooked printing, uneven cutting of the pages, misspellings throughout, and a stapled spine. My fake one even says H200 on the cover...not a Samsung model!

4. Hologram sticker on the box. The fake one says "Original Samsing". The real one says, of course, Samsung. The fake box is also deeper front to back than the real box by about an inch.

5. The charging case. The fake one feels flimsy and has roughly finished edges. The real one is a little sturdier and has no rough edges.

6. The AC adapter plug. L-shaped plug on the genuine WEP200, straight plug on my fake one. The real one also fits snugly into the charger case, where the fake had a loose connection, causing the charging status light to flicker.

The fake one worked ok (but for how long?) with my older class 1 Bluetooth Razr, but not well with my new class 2 phone. The real one works fine with the class 2 phone.

There are numerous other minute differences in lettering, logos, plastic finishing, etc. But the unit itself is virtually indistinguishable from the real thing without having both in front of you.

This information won't be of much help to anyone buying one on Ebay right now (though you could ask a seller a few questions before bidding), but it might help someone who just bought a fake and still has a chance to return it. If everyone returns fakes to the sellers, they'll eventually stop trying to sell us this junk. You might think, "Hey it's cheap, it looks real, and it works...why not buy one?" Sounds logical but what happens if it dies a month after you get it? Whose warranty covers it? The seller? Samsung? Nope. Who's gonna fix it? No one. Spend a little extra dough and get the real deal.
