I have seen fake Sideshow statues/busts/dioramas going around. I have heard of fake Sideshow Iron Man, but have not actually seen one. I have seen couple of fake Sideshow Hulk vs Spider-Man dioramas. It appears they are all coming in from Hong Kong/China. The fakes are fairly hard to spot unless you have very good close up pictures or actually inspect the item in person. These are some of the things I noticed with the fakes. 1) I'm not sure if the fakes are made using cheaper paint, but when you open the box, the smell of the paint hits you like a pile of bricks. 2) The edition number sticker is missing from the bottom of the box. 3) The Sideshow shipping box has misprinted words ("diorama" is spelled DIO RAMA and "Thousand Oaks" is spelled THOUS AND OAKS). 4) The details on Hulk's hand is not very good (you can't really see the lines in the fold of his fingers). 5) The light post with Spider-Man does not fit securely. 6) The bottom piece on the signal light is on backwards. 7) Here's the big one. Spider-Man and Hulk does not even face each other when the pieces are put together. Spider-Man is leaning too far to the right, so it appears as if Hulk is staring at nothing. Collectors should remember that companies  like Sideshow and Bowen uses factories in China to make most if not all their items. It would be very easy for a dishonest employee or someone skilled enough to make copies. If criminals can make counterfeit money, why can't they make fake statues? Since Bowen and Sideshow does not offer hologram stickers, online verification/registration or even a COA, it's very difficult to know exactly what you're getting when making purchases online. When in doubt, ask questions like where the seller obtained the item. Ask for pictures of the actual item if the seller is using "sample" pictures taken from other websites. With the costs of these collectibles keep going up each year, there's bound to be more and more fakes flooding the market. Remember, Sideshow does not have an office or wholesalers in China. Collectors should probably avoid these expensive items coming from China altogether. Most importantly, buy only from sellers willing to accept Paypal so that you can be protected just in case your purchase turns out to be a fake.
