OK...I have to admit...I have made my share of purchases here on E-Bay...but NOTHING is more agrivating than THINKING that you are getting an "Authentic" pair of jeans...for a GREAT DEAL! I have scoured, researched, watched SO many pairs of jeans fly through here like they were going out of style! And yes...I bought some! After months of wearing some of these jeans...thinking "what a great deal" I got, I have come to realize that they are FAKES! I have been wearing FAKE Citizen's Of Humanity...FAKE Hudson's and of course...FAKE Seven jeans!!! I will be the first to say it..."If it sounds too good to be true...it probably is!" I feel so DUPED!!! I almost take it personally...like the seller is sitting saying "what an idiot! I just sold ANOTHER pair of FAKE jeans for $70-$90!!!" Because...they KNOW IT! Theses sellers get there merchandise (I am being nice here!) from over seas sellers (duplicating high end jeans) for a very low cost and turn around and sell them here for a fraction of what department stores sell them for. Some sellers even say in there listings "bought from a major department stores outlet center"...I don't know about you...but there are none near me...and if there was, I wouldn't have to look for deals! I would get my deal there...at this so called "department store outlet center"!
So...here are a few things that I have learned from my purchases "real v's fake"...(as far as auctions go)
1)Legitimate sellers will have an ACTUAL picture of the jeans that they are selling...not one from the REAL website. This is a BIG one! Ask for a pic of the actual jeans if it is only one from the site! You want to "see" the jeans...the wash...the color, etc.
2)Look for misspellings...YES...FAKE jeans sometimes have the name misspelled so as not to be confused with the authentic ones! BIG CLUE! This has happened with friends and SEVEN jeans...the name on the FAKE pair says SEVIN...so be careful!
3)The washes are not true to the actual jeans...like the "whiskering" effects...if they are too abrupt, noticeable...they are probably fake. The fake ones look almost like bleach marks have been made on the jeans. Look at the website of the actual jean you are thinking of purchasing and COMPARE! The most recent I saw was for COH...they have a pic of the actual jeans they are selling AND a pic from the COH website...the pic of their jeans and the whiskering was MUCh more abrupt... authentic COH jeans do not have such marks.
4)The buttons/stitching can be a RED FLAG also! COH jeans say ORIGINAL on the back of the button...not an "H". (This is the mistake I made...TWICE!!)
5)Multiple Listings for the same style of jeans...you know...the people who have LOTS of listings for the SAME jeans...just different sizes! And once again...these pics will not be of the ACTUAL jean, but from the REAL website!!
6)Fake Hudson jeans...(unfortunately you won't see it unless you already made the mistake...like I did!) the buttons on the back pockets are just put into the holes! There is nothing actually securing the button to the pant! Also the front pockets are cut too short in a way that they stick out...as if the inside of the pocket can be seen at all times.
7)Think about it...why would the REAL/Authentic manufacturer's sell to people on Ebay soooo cheap that THEY in turn could turn around and sell it to US for little profit!! Doesn't make much sense, when they can sell to high end dept stores and make their real profits!
So...my new thought process is to A. Feedback is VERY important!!!
B. Look for actual pictures...
C. Look for auctions from WOMEN who bought the jeans at a Higher End retail store that now no longer fit
"SO IF IT'S TO GOOD TO BE TRUE>>>IT PROBABLY IS!!!!!"
