Please pay careful attention to my guide ratings! You'll notice the number of unhappy sellers that are attempting to trash my ratings because the information contained here calls attention to their shady business practices. Keep those negatives coming!

For those of you honest people, I hope that this information helps you and that you will give me that acknowledgement.

I have collected photos of many fakes that may help you to make a good decision when considering the purchase of a piece of Nippon. Please see my Fake & Reproduction Nippon Part I guide for the fake marks.

These are everywhere! Both sport either the fake "M in Wreath" Nippon mark on one of the fake RS Prussia marks. The shoes are also marked with the fake gold "Handpainted Nippon" mark. The purple rose design of the ginger jar is found on many items including the shoes.

And of course, there are these "items". They are being sold by the hundreds by importing companies. The pattern is known as Wildflower and it on the square trinket boxes, Chocolate Sets, bathroom sets, vanity sets, etc. They are generally marked with the fake "hour glass in wreath" mark.

Lets not forget the Chinese plates, produced enmass and simply stamped NIPPON. They are heavy, thick, lumpy and of inferior quality.

Ahh, the fake "Texas Rose" pattern and the many, many bells. What can I say. Both of the patterns shown above are on Chocolate sets, mugs, ewers,  so-called "tumble ups", bedroom sets, bathrooms sets and so on. The "Texas Rose" coffee/chocolate sets come in many different molds.

It is important to get aquainted with these fakes so that you can avoid them. Comparing authentic pieces to the fakes helps immensely as, after a while, you will be able to spot the repro/fakes more easily. I will be creating "Nippon -Part III-Compare the Authentic to the Fake" soon, so you can see some of the quality pieces too. Good luck to you!
