I was looking for a used motorcyle on ebay when i placed a rather small bid on a harley davidson. I was outbidded and forgot all about it until about a week after the auction ended i recieved an email (actually 4, i counted later) from ebay saying there was a second chance offer on this auction and all i had to pay was my bidding price. The email was very authentic looking, saying the email was from customer support from ebay or something like that, had all the logos in it, and even had a marketplace tip on the side. Hoverver, I knew it was too good to be true. The first thing i did was check My Messages through ebay in a NEW internet window. There were no emails in there about second chance offers. This was my first clue it was a spoof. The email also said to send an email to an address instead of dealing through ebay. Second clue of a spoof. Last, as I said earlier, i later recieved three more of these emails, some of them with other email addresses. Third clue of a spoof, and it was out. These emails were quickly forwarded to ebay's spoof address. Hopefully this guide helps someone so they don't fall for this sly trick.
By the way, i replied to one of the emails for kicks and giggles, (which i found out you should never do because then they now know your email is real and you'll get more junk mail) and he replied back saying he was in finland for business and he needed some information from me and he'll send the bike to my door for free. This was a sure sign of fraud. Just another FYI
