I'm writing in reference to all the fake Mr Cartoon LA cortez shoes that are popping up on ebay. I myself  was a victim of this a couple of months ago. I didnt realize they were fakes until today, when i was going through my cortez collection. I have three pairs of these shoes, (the white and blue ones), the first two were authentic and the latter was an excellent fake. The first pair was bought in 2004 from lowgoose and are 100% legit. They came with an autographed box, two autographed posters, and the original invite postcard to the shoes' release @ Undefeated shoe store in Los Angeles, (and the bag from the shoe store). The second pair was purchased 6 months later or so and include the same Undefeated price tag, and exact markings and construction as the first pair. The third pair were purchased from danny2003baseball. Whether he knows it or not, they are excellent fakes. The only variances in these shoes were the back part of the sole, the country of construction, and the #s on the inside of the shoe. All the LA shoes have a 4 layer sole at the back, from the bottom up; gray rubber tread, then a layer of white, the streak of midnight navy, and finally another layer of white, then the leather uppers. The fakes had no second layer of white, just three layers. In fact none of my other cortezs had the same look as these shoes, all had the four layering construction. Both of the authentic shoes had a "born on date" of 9-30-04, in the lower left corner of the inside tag. They also had matching serial #s and both were made in Taiwan. The fakes were made on 8-30-05, had different serial #s and were made in Vietnam. Though a lot of Nikes are made in Vietnam, the LA edition were not. So to all buyers beware, check the soles, and have the seller take pictures of the inside tag, all the Mr. Cartoon LAs were manufactured in 2004 (they were limited edition), and in Taiwan. The problem with this is that the fakes are so good, unless you have on original pair, you will never be able to tell the difference. Check pictures closely before you buy, the three layer sole is the first dead-giveaway, the second would be buy-it-nows for super low prices. Unless of course you like fakes, they are a lot cheaper.
