Commonly faked models include:
UTX-70 / UTX 70
Scarab
Halo III or Halo 3
LCC DA
SOCOM (much rarer)
Some sellers will call these 'clones'. They are not clones. A clone would imply that they are identical to the authentic knife, just produced by a different maker. They are cheaply made copies produced in China. materials are generally cast pot metal for the handles and cheap blade steel (regardless of markings). I repeat: I have NEVER seen a Microtech copy worth of the word 'clone'. They are, without exception, very poor copies.
The Halo III copies are usually marked with ATS-34 on the poorly ground blades. The handles are pot metal held together with phillips head screws, and the charging bar is made of plastic, not metal.
The UTX-70 copies have the microtech logo on the handle, as well as a manufacture date and serial number. All of them appear to have the same serial number and date: 6/2004, SN 0644
These fakes typically sell for about 5-10 dollars at gun shows. Unscrupulous sellers are selling them for vastly inflated prices. I've seen UTX-70 clones for a buy it now of $159!. Consider that a genuine UTX-70 will sell for under $250 at most retailers and you'll realize that paying that much for a $5 piece of junk is not a bargain.
