There are many Japanese Samurai swords being sold on Ebay that are fakes. They are modern made copies coming from China. They mimic mostly WW II swords. Some also mimic Antique/traditionally mounted swords. A traditional Japanese sword will cost hundreds to tens of thousands of dollars. If you see a sword being sold for $9.99 it is usually a fake. Many of these swords are sold out of China and Hong Kong. This makes it hard to know who to trust. I suggest you educate yourself. The Japanese Sword Society of the United States, the JSS/US can help you learn. They sponser websites that cover WW II swords as well as tradtionally made swords. Collecting Japanese swords can be truely rewarding. If you want to collect real Japanese swords then you must educate yourself against the fakes.
