Over the past year or so there has been a proliferation of fake Dupont and Dunhill lighters (especially Dupont) on eBay. They look authentic, and many times in the description they'll be described as such. The best way to spot these fakes is to look to see if this item is described as brand new and the same seller is selling numerous lighters. Dupont is very particular about how their items are sold, so there are no "overstocks" or "closeouts". One of the other ways to tell is by the price... If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. Think about it - why would someone sell a brand new lighter that costs several hundred dollars for a fraction of the price? Yet one more way to tell is by the location of the seller... especially if it's China or Hong Kong. One trick that some of these sellers use nowadays is to list their location as the UK. Buyer Beware!
