Hello Everyone:

This is a repost to a guide I had up here on ebay,

the original one was removed due to a dishonest seller from Canada complaining to ebay,

I was ripped off by this seller, and I was being "HONEST" about the situation,

the guide was pulled because it violated a few rules on Ebay, let's just say the seller has an online store in Canada and they use a font on their letters similar to the rock band AC/DC'S letters.

There is a problem with a lot of guitars being sold on ebay, and the problem is the authenticity of the item,

This is due to a lot of forgeries coming out of China,

the sad part is the fact a lot of people are getting ripped off, and some of the sellers who are selling these fakes know what they are selling, but there is some sellers who don't have a clue as to what they are selling.

which brings up the subject on Dillion Guitars,

there is a lot of fake Dillion Guitars popping up on ebay, the majority of them are from sellers in Canada,

because of this, Dillion is not honoring any warranties on any products not sold in the USA,

now there is some legit sellers in Canada, but the fakes are easy to spot,

most of the fakes are usually copies of Gibson styled guitars, or guitars not being offered by Dillion,

Go to Dillion Guitars website and you will see all of the guitars currently being offered by Dillion,

the other way to spot the fakes is by looking at the back of the headstock, if there is no Crafted in Korea or Serial Number get more information about it and contact Dillion Guitars, Dillion will let you know if the guitar is the real deal or not,

Dillion told me about the Fake piece of crap I had, they told me what I had was a fake, it was a "Chambered" Les Paul, hint the keyword "Chambered",

Dillion does not sell "Chambered" Les Pauls in the USA,

The guitar looked good on the outside, but on the inside where it was chambered, it was horrible,

the whole inside of the body was hollow except for a few small spots near the edges, and a spot near the bridge, sort of like a poorly done Les Paul Supreme,

I am not kidding about any of this, I found out all of this when I went to change the electronics in the guitar,

then when I went to sell it on ebay so I can get some of my money back, I had a lot of people complaining about the authenticity of the item, including Dillion Guitars,

I mentioned in the auction where it came from, and the fact I even questioned it's authenticity was even mentioned,

the guitar finally sold, I took a loss but I got most of my money back on that turd,

but enough of all that,

Newer Dillion Guitars have the following on the back of the neck of the guitar,

" HAND CRAFTED FOR DILLION U.S.A."

Dillion guitars knows of the fakes, that is why they are going to such measures,

Dillion Guitars are made in Korea, not China,

a few of them have popped up on ebay with made in China stickers on the back of the guitar,

but most of all here is the things to look for,

if the back of the headstock is blank with no stickers or decals of a serial number or made in Korea, look at the body of the guitar if the design is not exactly like the ones being shown on the Dillion Guitars site, Contact Dillion,

there is a lot of Dillions that do not have markings on the back of the neck, this is due to the company in Korea not properly clearcoating the stamp or the decal, polishing the guitar usually takes it right off,

The Les Paul Models usually have a pointed cutaway, or the cutaway is not dead on to a Gibson, if it is dead on and there is no markings on the back of the neck, it is more than likely a fake, Contact Dillion to make sure,

also look at the shape of the headstock, if it does not resemble the shape of a current Dillion headstock, it is more than likely a fake, once again contact Dillion,

now I am not saying all of the sellers from Canada are dishonest, and I am not stating all of the Dillions from Canada are fakes, but I am mentioning all of this information as a guideline to help prevent someone from getting ripped off,

The seller who sold me the fake has a website in Canada and they are a ebay seller, but due to ebay's rules I cannot mention their name or their id, but using the above information should help in the purchase in a genuine Dillion,

Take care and good luck
