This will be a short guide until I do more research. I will keep adding information as I find it and verify it.
If you wish to buy a designer purse on eBay, please refer to these guides, there are many of them on eBay. They are very informative and may help you to avoid buying a FAKE item!
Things to watch for:::::
1.) Items from overseas, places such as, but not limited to, China, Thailand, Hong Kong and other Asian countries, as well as Australia. I love Versace and check all of the worldwide items daily. If they are not from the USA, they seem to be from, Australia, especially. I see MOST FAKE items are coming from AUSTRALIA!! I would NOT buy a Versace handbag from AUSTRALIA for 1 Cent!!
2.) I realize designers change their item styles often, but PLEASE, do some research, eBay seems to be the best place other than first checking the item out in reputable department stores. Take notes on the details so you will be well informed if you wish to buy on eBay.
3.) There are some wonderful guides here on eBay regarding "Fake Juicy Couture" items. They are VERY much made overseas in sweatshops and NOT REAL. Please look at a real one in a reputable department store and take some notes, this may help in searching eBay for a REAL Juicy Couture bag. JUICY COUTURE is one of the MOST FAKED items on eBay as well as other sites! I see many young girls going crazy bidding on a Juicy purse they like the looks of, but is clearly fake if you check the guides. Check some of the "completed" items and you will see they outbid each other over and over on the same item, like it is a game or challenge to get it. It is possible they do not care if it is a fake item, but to spend so very much money on a fake is sad. Perhaps some are too young to realize how many fakes there are! Or, maybe they just like the style. Juicy Couture is so popular these days, just owning one to them, fake or not, doesn't matter to the younger girls. Personally, I would rather check the guides for info and pay more for a REAL item.
4.) Regarding China, again, with the recent pet food, seafood, toys etc, scares......be very wary when buying from China. As for myself, I would not at all.
5.) Back to Versace, I am in the process of doing research on purses, wallets, etc from Australia. Please be AWARE that buying from overseas always has high shipping. If you buy a fake and pay the high shipping, then you are out of even MORE money!! Seems kind of strange they sell many "Versace?" items, eh? How does that specific country get so much Versace? Also, they list for VERY low prices. I have seen so called "Versace" purses with a sun emblem, not the Versace "Medusa head" and no sign in their photos of it saying "Versace" on the item at all! I am currently trying to research the different styles and logos/emblems to REALLY know what is real or fake. PLEASE check my guide here soon as I will be updating it and will probably have photos of fakes and the real ones. If you are willing to pay a very high price, as real Versace is not cheap, a visit to the Versace website or even a simple phone call to one of their licensed boutiques will give you the FACTS if an item is authentic.
6.) More on Versace...you can do what I did, call a Versace boutique and request a catalog. Then you will have a REAL photo to study before you buy. Versace is NOT cheap. Other than a seller who is selling an older, used bag, it is the so-called new ones to be concerned about. If they are listing it as NEW, it should come with a dustbag as all Versace does. Tags, though, can and are faked, so if they say "new with tags", this does NOT guarantee it is authentic. There is another guide here by another eBayer who has written an excellent guide and has photos of REAL vs FAKE tags. Be VERY aware of "stock" photos, which are taken from legitimate Versace photos. You may receive an item that is close to the looks in their photo, but NOT exactly as seen in the auction photo! Do not be afraid to ask the seller for more photos, like the front, back, inside, etc. If they say they don't have a camera or other rubbish, STAY CLEAR! Any reputable seller will be more than willing to do this IF the item is REAL Versace. Please, please, fellow eBayers, do NOT buy a Versace purse for over $500.00 without doing research, you may be very sorry. And watch out for sellers who do NOT accept returns, don't you find that a bit suspicious?? OHHH, and please pay with Paypal, then you will be protected and depending on the circumstances, and may get your money back. Sellers who ONLY take money orders are scary to me as you will have NO guarantee of getting your money back. I sell with Paypal and for buyers, it is free to pay with and sellers only pay a minimal charge for an item sold. I am very frugal and the small amount sellers pay if you use Paypal is VERY reasonable. I use Paypal as it protects my buyers and myself when I purchase anything on eBay. Sellers who do not take Paypal, be wary of as this as it may be a sign of selling FAKES and you have no protection of getting your money back. ALWAYS check a seller's FEEDBACK! This is another way for you to get an idea of what kind of seller they are! Be sure to check the comments in their feedback. Just because they may have a rating of 1,000 or more does NOT mean a thing. Read the comments people left and see if any say "fake", not as stated", etc! If you see more than maybe one of these comments, STAY CLEAR of that seller.
7.) If you receive your purchased Versace item, check it out and be aware of details. As I mentioned, calling a licensed Versace boutique and describing it will be very helpful to you in finding out if it real or FAKE! If you see an item you like on eBay, check the seller's feedback. I have done this and seen many negative comments stating item is "fake!" One seller must have had 8 of these comments. Be very aware of a seller who keeps on selling many of the same item at low listing prices. Just how did they acquire so many and why such low prices?? REAL Versace is well known, being a top designer for selling REAL items at it's boutiques for VERY high prices as many designers do.
8.) When in doubt, do some research first. That is if you want a REAL item. Some people, I imagine, think even if they buy a low priced fake, nobody will know. If they do not care, fine, but personally, I would hate being with friends or family and saying "Look at my new Versace purse" and they are well aware it is a FAKE!
9.) Some people do not care if it is fake, but if you want REAL Versace, PLEASE either refer to other guides on eBay, call a boutique and describe the item for help, get a Versace catalog or simply do not take a chance on wasting your hard earned money.
10.) Lastly, I am sure since Gianni, himself passed away, his sister Donatella has made her own unique changes to the versace line. One thing I feel safe in buying is versace makeup bags. They now have "DV" for Donatella Versace. Since makeup bags are often given as gifts if you buy their items for a certain amount of money, there may be more of these sold on eBay. These are usually a safe bet to buy on eBay as they are not as high priced and the sellers who sell the FAKES do not make the money off these as they would a higher priced handbag. Besides, makeup bags are not leather and I cannot see anyone making much off of FAKING these.
11.) As for Versace sunglasses, china, clothing, makeup, etc., I could go on for hours about the extreme amount of fakes! I have seen guides here on eBay about some of those items, please read before you buy. As for me, regarding sunglasses, there are many optical/vision businesses, at malls, or offices that sell REAL Versace sunglasses/glasses. Wouldn't you rather pay them, knowing you are getting the real deal instead of paying a lot of money on eBay, only to find they are fake??? I would never take my chances with Versace sunglasses on eBay. Oh, boy, PLEASE tell me how someone can sell BRAND NEW Versace sunglasses with a starting bid of $6.99?? Craziness!!!!
I HOPE I WAS ABLE TO SHED SOME LIGHT ABOUT BUYING FAKE ITEMS.
As I do more research, this guide will be updated, hopefully I will also have both real and fake photos for you to see the differences.
GOOD LUCK AND ALWAYS BE CAREFUL IF YOU DO NOT WANT A FAKE!
ALWAYS REPORT ANY FAKE ITEM TO EBAY! THIS IS THE ONLY WAY WE BUYERS CAN GET THE "FAKE" SELLER OFF OF EBAY.
