A Flower Fairies Journal

A treasure to cherish for years to come Fairyopolis A Flower Fairies Journal  was written by Cicely Mary Baker in 1920 & beautifully reproduced here by Penguin Books Ltd. Cicely Mary Baker (1895-1973) was an English artist from a small town outside of London. In 1910 she began to produce postcards to promote her artwork. In 1923 she published her first FLOWER FAIRIES book & flower fairies quickly became what she best known for.

This book was actually a journal written by Baker for personal use and she lavished it with charming artwork, stories, souvenirs, and special treats. She donated her "journal" to The British Fairies Folklore Society in 1923 just prior to the release of her first book. In a letter to the society Baker said, "I am trusting you my fellow fairy lovers, to look after and preserve the book." Her journal has been lovingly reprinted with all of it's special treasures into this book.

The book has a perfect lavender color cover, kind of a padded feel like a photo album. It is embellished with a 3D faceted cameo type brooch & a flicker /hologram fairy picture on the cover. The thick almost cardboard pages have an abundance of illustrations & stories. You will learn how fairies tinkle tiny white bell flowers in harmony to call other fairies to sing. You will discover different names fairies use such as Pixies,  Elves, & Little People. You will read about Mary's plan of action to "catch" a fairy. Discover what kinds of trees fairies live in. You will even find a recipe for Blackberry Jam.
