I began collecting Jadite several years ago, when you could still buy a Fire King Coffee Mug for 50 cents. I've collected over 2000 pieces now and get true joy out of placing each new piece in my collection. I just love the pure green glossy look and satiny smooth texture of Jadite. I'd like to help others begin and add to their collection with assurance that they are getting the best Jadite for their money.

Buying Jadite on Ebay is the way to go. Besides the fact that Jadite is very hard to find locally, you also have to know a little bit about what you are buying to be sure you don't get duped into buying something that isn't really Jadite or stuck with a reproduction when you want the real thing.

On Ebay, you can find TRUE vintage Jadite, as well as great reproductions. The important thing is...when a seller lists their Jadite, most are quite honest and tell you up front whether it is VINTAGE Jadite or anew reproduction.

Although the vintage Fire King Jadite is much more valuable as a collectible, the new reproduction pieces are attractive and easier to acquire. In the beginning, I wanted only Fire King Jadite in my collection, but now I have added a few reproduction pieces because of their eye appeal and affordability.

One of the newer items are the Fire King Jadite pie pans put out in 2000. These are real Jadite and you can find them at local retailers if you are lucky.

The Cracker Barrel restaurants offer Martha Stewart jadite items too.

When you buy your Jadite on ebay, it's wise to ask your seller any questions you may have before you place that bid. If they don't state it is Fire King, or vintage, ask them.  I have found that 9 out of 10 times, if a seller has authentic vintage Jadite they are more than proud to list that fact in their ad. If the seller doesn't state that the item is "marked", you will want to write them and ask if there are any names or hallmarks on the bottom of the piece.

Old Jadite lamps are becoming quite the find lately. I have discovered that a lot of these jadite floor lamps actually have pure Jade on them as well, which adds to their collectibility and value. When looking for a Jadite lamp, make sure they WORK, and that the electrical parts are functional.

Mosser makes newer Jadite and most of it is very attractive and holds its value. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a nice piece of Mosser Jadite if the price was right. Sometimes though, I find the smaller pieces like the sitting hens have not been well detailed and look a bit cheap.

Overall, I think Ebay is the best place to begin and add to your Jadite collection, because of the variety, security and return options if you're not happy with your item.
