Once again today, my in box was invaded by spoof emails. In the subject line it read "FPA NOTICE: eBay Registration Suspension -Section 9-" This was the return email address aw-confirm@ebay.com.cn
This was a much better scam than I fell for over the weekend, but thankfully I followed 2 these easy steps.
1.) Opened my browser and logged into eBay. I checked my messages and there wasn't any
2.) I started a chat with eBay Stores Live Help (its what they are there for) and talked with them
At the conclusion of both, it was determined to be a spoof email. Right away I sent these emails to spoof@ebay.com Within an hour or so, I got a return email confirming these were fake emails trying to harvest my account information (again)
If you do end up giving your information to this email, simply change your ebay password. Then contact eBay live support. That should clear it up. This specific set of emails is only targeting your eBay account. Do not beat yourself up...just learn from it like I did
For information purposes, I copied the email into text format and pasted it here. The email was in HTML and was identical to most eBay emails. (Notice how they have my name as info? That was my real clue. This also isn't my email registered with eBay. It is a customer service email in listings)
Thank you for reading my guide
