FLY FISHING FOR BEGINNERS - COLLAGE OF TROPHY FISH

I dedicate these pictures to my daughter and to all who enjoy fly fishing over conventional methods.

Please use the term "trophy" lightly - your entitled to your own opinion on what you consider a trophy.

I hope you enjoy the pictures I have provided for your viewing pleasure.

This Largemouth Bass was caught in a farm pond - used a Sage 6WT w/ Orvis Reel

       Same pond different Largemouth

Caught a few flounders on my Sage 6WT w/ orvis outfit. I was using a fluke killer on non floating line and dragging on the bottom in a flounder hole. It was one of my first experiences fly fishing in saltwater

A few weeks later, I went back to that same spot but at dusk and caught this nice Red Drum and a few Stripers. I used a 10WT 3-pc Goldcup flyrod and reel from Bass Pro Shops. The fish were "boiling" on the surface after bait fish and the Red Drum was like a freak accident because I was going for the Stripers and hit BIG RED.

Another shot of BIG RED and the double STRIPES!!!

Caught this STRIPER that same year

Now, let me tell you about some SPADES. I caught this one on an egg fly w/ clam juice scent all over it and I was bouncing off the surface just below the sight line and WHAM!!!! This was an awesome  fight,  pound for pound the Spade is awesome to catch on a flyrod - I almost screwed up my 10WT Gold Cup.

One more Spade for the camera - I did switch to a conventional rod that day because it was too crowded to flyfish because people flock to the lighthouse like crazy

Now thats what we call a "SLAB", caught this past October 2008 on my Sage FLi 5WT w/ Orvis Reel.

First Rainbow "BOW" Trout was caught on Sage 4WT w/ Pflueger Mid Arbor. Fly was a custom trout fly egg
