There are an number of factors to consider when you're considering purchasing a Fine Art Reproduction, if you want to receive a canvas that accurately reflects the original:
First: REVIEW THE SELLERS' FEEDBACK: low quality works don't last long on ebay;
Second: Determine that your piece is, in fact, on CANVAS and NOT on the cheap, look-alike 'canvas paper' sold by some unscrupulous sellers: 'paper canvas' will deteriorate and result in image degradation over a relatively short period of time...and while they ARE 'cheaper', remember that they are, in fact, 'Cheaper'.
Third: Is the Canvas brushstroked? Hand-applied brushstrokes, using a clear gel, add the depth of field and texture of the original oils, and add immesurably to the impact and beauty of the canvas. If the brushstrokes are not applied BY AN ARTIST BY HAND, or if they are applied by a machine, then the resulting canvas will be sub-quality.
Fourth: Does the Seller GUARANTEE their work? if NOT, then beware: images in jpg form vary from monitor to monitor; if you receive a canvas that materially differs from the image you actually bought, you MUST have the right to return it and receive either a complete refund, or a new canvas that reflects exactly the image as represented for sale. Can you contact the Seller directly? Do they send you a telephone number, so you can actually speak to them, should there be a problem? Every legitimate Seller will supply this information automatically to every Buyer. If you don't receive this information, Request It!
Fifth: Request a time frame for delivery of your artwork. When you, as a client, pay promptly, you have every right to expect prompt attention and delivery.
Sixth: Be sure to check your 'spam' boxes for correspondence: with the prevelance of spam catchers, many Sellers are not in your data base of addresses, and you won't receive your notification.
Last: What methods of payment does the Seller accept? Beware of requests to send 'wire transfers', cash, or server addresses that are not 'secure'.
We hope this information is helpful to prospective buyers. We're always pleased to supply information on our or any other works, should you require second opinions, or want comparisons.
Best Wishes,
Tess
