In my experience as both a seller and a buyer,

NEGATIVE FEEDBACK HURTS!!!!!

What are my personal thoughts on NEGATIVE FEEDBACK.

  • First of all, we are all a community of people around the globe that are trying to do the best we can with what we own, want to sell, buy, etc. Therefore, why not talk to each other, and make the EBAY experience a positive one.

Rule of Thumb

  • Most Ebay Sellers are reasonable, and want to please you.
  • Most Ebay Sellers are also buyers, therefore they understand that what one Seller Thinks is Beautiful, a buyer might find atrocious. Talk to the seller, the seller is a reasonable human being.
  • If the Seller is not a reasonable human being, start a dispute resolution with Ebay or Paypal. This should only be used when sellers are not willing to return your monies, or are not willing to discuss your unhappiness with their item.
  • Write an email to your seller once you receive your item, and tell him/her your concerns, disatisfactions, etc. In most cases, the seller will respond immediately and ask you what he/she can do to ameliorate the situation.

Negative feedback is a negative tool, and I have said this to many a seller when displeased with their item. I don't leave negative feedbacks, because those feedbacks always stand in the mind of the seller over the hundreds of positive items received. Think about it, how would you like to receive a negative feedback from a seller, when you were out of town and could not get back in time to resolve an issue?

Be considerate, and put yourself in the seller's shoes.

Seller's be considerate of your buyers -- Leaving negative feedback without learning the reason why your buyer has not paid you, is silly! You have other options...Also don't retaliate...I have seen some horrendous comments left for sellers and retributary responses to the buyers.

If you have a bad day at work, at home, don't lash out at your buyer or seller. Stay with your problem, and leave feedback, or don't leave feedback if you choose. My rule of thumb is to let the seller know about the problem with my purchase, if I get a response back, then I leave a good feedback, if the seller has ignored me, I don't leave the seller any feedback.

No Feedback is Better Than Negative Feedback

Remember we are all human, and we have other lives besides the fun of selling on EBAY. Life takes many turns...and some Sellers and Buyers have their share of stories...Be courteous, be patient and overall, think before you react and place a NEGATIVE FEEDBACK on a very nice person who lives in the same globe that you do!
