One of my fashion favorites is a black and white combo. Black pants and shoes with either an all white top or a white and black print top are at the top of my list of flattering women’s clothing. The type of fabric doesn’t really matter as much as true contrasting colors in your fabrics. Nothing makes a stunning fashion statement better than the ultimate contrast of Black and White.
Black and white is always up to date and trendy. It’s a must have in your wardrobe, like bread and milk go on your grocery list. And yes, I am wearing black and white as I write this guide. The fabrics, styles and prints may change, but black and white is a staple of the fashion community…always has been and probably always will be. In checking out the Designer Clothing for this next season, most are showing new patterns and “you-name-it” lengths in black and white outfits. Every wardrobe should have a black and white combo outfit, even if it’s a standard little black dress with white pearls and earrings, you will look fabulous in black and white.
Professional Office Clothing
Say you are going to the office and you want to come across as professional and one who will get the facts right the first time (i.e. black and white). You could wear a Black Tailored blouse with a female version of a man’s tux like the one below. Wear them with a pair of white or black slacks (definitely not jeans) and accessories in white. Perhaps White pearl post earrings (the non-dangle type) and a white pearl bracelet and a narrow white belt. Be sure to wear 2” classic pumps the same color as your slacks to give you a taller more authoritative look.
Tip: When wearing a black blouse, never tuck shirttails into a white bottom (skirt or pants). The black color will always show up and spoil the professional “put-together look” you are after.
Dating Clothes in Black And White
You are off work now, and ready to have a dinner and dancing date with someone special. Tonight you want to come across as ultra-feminine and fun to be with. Change into a light see through, black & white polka dot top with ruffles. In my book ruffles and see through equal feminine side. Polka dots show you are fun to be with and ready to step outside the box. Pair it with a cute white mini-skirt about 3 inches above the knee. Pop on some black pearl earrings and white sandals. There you go. He’s hooked!
Tip: When you are choosing outfit pieces, true matching colors matter. For instance, don’t wear an off-white top with a winter white skirt. The off-white will look dirty or old. Only wear off-white or ivory with dark contracting colors. Black tends to fade after washing. Choose matching shades is very important to your total fashion statement.
Casual Fun in Black And White
Maybe the next day you are going to the game with some friends. You’re wondering what to wear that would be comfortable casual, but still keep your fashion standards high. You’re not sure how warm it will be at the game.
Ah ha! Let’s go for the layered look! Put on some black jeans or cotton slacks (right away you have taken a leap ahead of the crowd in fashion) then put on a black silk Tee shirt and top it with a white (or ivory) tunic. Depending on how much walking is involved, wear a pair of comfortable walking pumps or contrast with white tennis shoes. Very sharp looking, but still comfortable casual without looking baggy or sloppy.
Tip: When it comes to casual wear that makes a smashing fashion statement, wear clothes that FIT. Casual does not mean baggy, it means comfortable.
Plus Size Clothing In Black And White:
Black is used to slenderize your larger parts and white does a fantastic job of diverting the eye to the areas you would prefer. So if you are larger on top, wear a black top (preferably without front buttons) and white skirts or pants. If you have a secretary’s spread like me, choose a white top with black pants and shoes. Draw the eye to the face with a big smile and a great hairdo.
Tip: Here again, your goal is proper fit. Tight clothing does NOT make you look smaller. Choose fabrics that flow over your body without clinging to it. Careful now, not baggy, but proper fit will look best.
Black And White Shoes Go With Everything
The total look of class is when even your shoes match your outfit. The best thing about black leather shoes is that they also work as black accessories with a number of other colors you may wear. Leather is always a great choice for comfort and long lasting good looks.
