The stupidity of counterfeiters never ceases to amaze me! I recently acquired this FANTASY HEISEY HEN ON NEST at a reputable auction. A "fantasy" piece is a counterfeit or fake that is made with a mark replicating (or attempting to replicate) an original, but the mark is applied to an item that was never produced by the original maker. Supposedly part of an estate, I am convinced it was seeded by the auction house through one of their consignment sellers. I have confirmed with renowned Heisey expert, Gene Florence, that this is a fantasy piece -- that Heisey never made any such items in slag glass. You will note the difference also in the H in Diamond mark. I have already found one such piece on Ebay (the seller had the good sense to remove it before it sold) but I want Ebayers to be on alert because I suspect we are about to see a floodtide of similar fantasy Heisey pieces. If you know of any, please contact me and I will be happy to include them in this guide. And if you find such fantasy pieces on ebay, please REPORT COUNTERFEIT ITEMS TO EBAY so we can keep collecting on ebay a safe and friendly pasttime. Thanks!
