In certain cases, you would have to have the same exact item to tell fake from real .. example on Rolex, you can compare the weight of the watches ..

in other occasion .. you dont have to own the real piece to tell the difference ... as the machine of fake watches make loud noises ! tick .. tock .. tick .. tock ...

but higher grade (AAA) has better quality .. only the expert can tell the difference when they look at the parts / components of the watch .. bring your watch to trusted dealer watch .. have them checked the authenticity ...

Prior to purchasing your watch... check seller other items .. seller feedback ... and ask them to verify the authenticity ..
