Ebay is a wonderful venue to collect things, Ebay however is also a place where the "buyer beware" should be the best policy to put into practice. Aside from the fake designer labels which unscrupulous sellers on Ebay manage to pass off as the real deal, Ebay has also attracted sellers from all over the world who sell fake Holocaust related items. I've already described in some of my other guides guidelines to expose sellers of fake concentration camp armbands , medals, Nazi armbands , Shoa uniforms and of course a gamut of fake designer labels mostly made in china, but I'd like to devote this guide to the yellow stars which jews were forced to wear in the concentration camp & ghetto's of nazi occupied europe.
First thing in order is to realize that these stars are indeed rare and hard to come by. If they weren't destroyed already during the war, the survivors would never think of selling it, as they would rather pass it on to their children as a reminder of what they went through and that they should never forget the trauma they suffered as Jews, OR they would donate it to the Holocaust Museum in their area. If you have a seller who claims he/she bought it a flea market or from a collector BE SUSPECT! Chances are they are lying.
Second item that should raise a red flag is if the seller is selling WW1 & WW2 German, Nazi , Russian, Japanese items. Where in God's Name did he/she get so many of these items?! Their usual line is: "I bought out a collector who has been collecting for 50 years" or something like that. Yeh right! They also claim that they supply Holocaust Museums as well! can you believe that?! KEEP IN MIND that this never ending supply of Holocaust and war memorabilia is to be found amongst OTHER Ebay sellers but listed as REPRODUCTIONS! The same exact items! I even know of one seller who honestly lists his items as repro's and then I see his items as being sold as the real thing by these unscrupulous and thieving sellers. I recommend seller chabadnik1963 for his honesty and integrity for listing these items as reproductions.

If you HAVE already bought one of these stars, IMMEDIATELY see an expert seamstress to tell you if the fabric is new or not. many times they can tell by the stitching and string used to sew the star. If you find that it's a fake, DEMAND your ENTIRE money back, report the seller to Ebay and the Internet Police . The seller HAS COMMITTED A CRIME no different than robbing you!
