FAKE WEBKINZ BEING SOLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Counterfeit WEBKINZ plush toys are being made and with the number of Webkinz that are on Ebay daily there is a good chance a large number of them are FAKE so ask plenty of questions and get confirmation that the CODE WILL WORK when entered at the Webkinz site.  This is half the enjoyment of a Webkinz toy and what a great disappointment to have a child end up with a Webkinz pet to only learn that the code can't be activated at Webkinz World.

Be sure to read the seller's feedback and you may want to consider contacting some of the buyers to make sure their code worked.  Many times people will purchase an item, it arrives quickly and looks great so they go ahead and leave positive feedback.  Then the code gets entered later and they find out it won't work and it is too late to change the feedback.

Fakes LOOK really similar to the real thing so the only way to know if a Webkinz toy is counterfeit is to enter the code and find out it doesn't work.  Once the detection of counterfeits becomes more widespread there will be guides on how to spot the differences but I haven't been able to spot any really detailed information yet but I will update this guide if I find new information.

The good thing about Webkinz (as compared to Beanie Babies) is that this code is a deterrent to counterfeiting because people will catch on when they find out their code does not work.

Do not leave feedback for a seller until you confirm the code will work!!

Do NOT break a child's heart and end up with a fake WEBKINZ pet with a code that can NOT be activated!!!  Do your homework before making a purchase!

You can also find many half price Webkinz online, however please make sure you are buying from a reputable dealer as some unscrupulous people are selling fake cut price Webkinz. These fake Webkinz have codes that do not work on the Webkinz Virtual World website so be careful out there my friend. The fake Webkinz look so real too.

A tip is to always use a credit card when buying Webkinz online as if it later turns out to be fake, you should be able to claim a refund from your credit card company by using your consumer's rights.

Tradekey is a site out of China that deals primarily in counterfeit merchandise.  I found this post from a seller in China.  Finding name brand merchandise on Tradekey is a good indication that the items are being counterfeited.  Almost ANY popular item will end up being counterfeited.  Here is what I found (this is copied and pasted so I'm leaving all typos, etc.):

WEBKINZ CHARMS

I have seen a number of posts from people discussing fake looking Webkinz charms so I would be really careful when purchasing those or any other Webkinz item.

Try searching Ebay and the internet for other information on Webkinz.
