Bid on and immediately paid via Paypal for a ring advertised as an authentic David Yurman split shank blue topaz w/diamonds ring.  It was close to $300 with shipping etc.  When I received the ring, it was very obvious that it was a fake.  I immediately contact the seller in the UK who said 'send it back'.  Well, I sent it back, with proper documentation that it had a value of $250.  Seller emailed me a few weeks later sayer that she was refusing to pick up the package due to the high duty she would have had to pay.  She wanted me to resend it again, saying it was only a $10 ring.  I said I won't do that.  Contacted Ebay - was told that I needed to go to Paypal since I paid through them.  I got Paypal involved with this mess and opened a claim, saying the item was significantly not as described.  Paypal first said the I needed to prove that I returned the ring - not a problem - I had my documentation from the post office showing that I shipped and insured the ring.  Provided my proof to Paypal.  Now, they're saying that I need to provide proof that the seller refused to accept the return - not a problem - I have tracking information from the internet (parcelforce.com) showing that the package arrived in the UK, that the seller was notified, and that the seller indicated to return to sender.  In the meantime, seller refuses to respond to any emails, etc.  It took over 2 months for the package to make its way back to me.  At this point, I've been calling and emailing Paypal to discuss the situation.  Each time I contact them, I get a different customer service person.  On live telephone conversations, the Paypal CSR agrees with me that I am the wronged party and should get a full refund of what I paid, including postage.  After we end the call, the CRS sends a confirmation email stating what we had discussed.  Shortly after that email arrives, another email arrives to say that my appeal has been denied due to insufficient information regarding the refusal and return.  This happened FOUR times.  I finally get a notice from my Post Office, saying the package is ready for my pickup (took over 8 weeks to go from UK to USA).  I contact Paypal by phone again.  This time, I explained everything again, and got the same old response - we'll reopen your appeal, etc.  Well, I insisted on speaking to someone up the ladder from the CSR level.  Was told that they could put me on hold and discuss with a higher level person (named Amy).  After that discussion, they came back to the phone and said my case was being passed along for review again.  I asked for a direct phone number of the higher up, but was told that they aren't allowed to do that.  So, I asked this person to please pass MY PHONE NUMBER to Amy and have them call me asap.  Amy did call me and I went over the entire situation again.  I asked her to look up my records for this claim and take a look at the email trail.  I saved every single piece of communcation from Ebay, Paypal and the seller, plus had all the documentation they had asked for.  She agreed that I should get a refund.  I asked if she was the person who could actually make this happen and she said yes.  She advised me that it would take a few days.  Amy was good to her word - the credit went into my Paypal account that night - and the money was put into my bank account the next workday.  THANK YOU, AMY!!!
