FAKE PURPLE Coca-Cola Bottles
Be
careful of Hobbleskirt Coca-Cola bottles with a Deep Purple AMETHYST color. Dark purple is not a
natural color for these bottles and is caused by irradiating older
bottles. The older Coke bottles had manganese that will turn the bottle
dark purple when irradiated. There are some naturally occurring bottles
with a very slight amethyst/purple tint - leaving them out in prolonged
sunlight will darken the tint (but they will NEVER become a Dark Purple). Some straight sided S-S bottles are also out there in Dark Purple. A bottle without this irradiating
is worth much more for your collection. Remember: Bottles in the $300.00 - $700.00 range is unrealistic!
FAKE AMBER Coca Cola Bottles
There are also some amber colored hobble-skirt bottles around. This fad started in the 1970s many collector got ripped off. The amber color in these bottles is also artificially produced by irradiating the bottles. There are fake amber Straight Sided Coke bottles too. There are no natural amber S-S bottles from Macon GA. There are no real AMBER hobbleskirt Coca-Cola bottles. Sellers use the private bidder routine so real collectors can't warn you.
REMEMBER! THESE BOTTLES ARE WORTHLESS!!!
For Collectors information visit: http://www.antiquebottles.com They do not sell any bottles.
