Here are some tips for pet lovers in regards to pet care and safety:
Tip #1: Take a Crate
Dogs are 'den' creatures and a crate, whether hard or soft, can be your dog's 'den' on the go! Dogs often become stressed when traveling because of the unfamiliar surrounding, so a dog/cat crate with thier familiar scent provides both comfort and security. If you plan on traveling by a plane, make sure you have a dog/ cat carrier that is airline approved. Also, don't forget a crate mat to make your your dog or cat's traveling experience as comfortable as possible.
Tip #2: Chew Toys Save Furniture
Dogs chew as a natural wauy of dealing with the stress of domestication. Unfortunately, the dog chewing is often on your furniture or sometimes your shoes! To keep your dog's teeth healthy (and your furniture and house bite mark-free) keep a variety of chew toys around the house. Chew toys range from soft for playing to hard chew toys for dogs.
Tip #3: Raise Your Feeder
Raised feeders limit the amount of air that dogs take in while feeding, reducing bloating and gas and promoting healthy digestion - all of which are important to a dog's health. They also make the dining experience more comfortable for older dogs with hip and back problems.
Tip #4: Go Organic
For whatever reasons, cats go wild for catnip, so make sure that your cat toys are filled with th real stuff! After all, 'catnip-scented' toys do not have the same effect. And remember to refill the toys, because catnip can eventually go bad, just like any other herb.
Tip #5: Baby Gates
While not a complete necessity, a baby gate is a got idea for containing your pets to a certain area. Dogs - especially puppies, in particular - are not agile on stairs so the gate lowers the risk of accidents in those first few months of home training. Baby gates come in wire, wooden or plastic giving you a variety to choose from for your pet!
