RR. Peanuts and Peanut Butter may help prevent Diabetes!Yes, you may not believe it, but peanuts and peanut butter may help prevent diabetes according to some studies. Please search for "diabetes and peanut" to verify the study. Now, be careful because peanut butter has lots of glucose. In fact it has so much glucose that many blood banks use it as food for after when you give blood to bring your glucose back up. Glucose of course is bad for diabetics! So be careful what you eat. You may just want to stick with plain peanuts. Again, be careful as peanuts have fats like triglycerides and such so eat in moderation. But somehow peanuts and nuts are good for preventing diabetes. It's not clear if it helps you if you already have diabetes.
SS. Honey on Diabetic wounds may Help prevent amputation.Believe it or not, there's a study going on testing that honey may help prevent amputation. Please search for "diabetes and honey" to verify this study. Apparently Honey kills bacteria and is not rejected by the body like some antibiotics are. In diabetics, circulation is poor and an infection in an extremity like a foot heals poorly. When a thick layer of honey is applied it helps kill the bacteria and promote healing thereby avoiding amputation.
TT. Gila Lizard Spit may help diabetesNo joke, search on "diabetes and spit" to verify this study. Apparently Gila lizard saliva is about as effective as insulin. Some drug companies are making drugs out of it to treat diabetes. Weird huh? A drug made from the lizard spit is called Byetta and many people swear by it's effectiveness! Consult your doctor!
UU. Aspirin is Good for Diabetics
Diabetics are much more at risk for heart disease and stroke. An Aspirin regimen may help protect Diabetics from these maladies. It has been recommended for people over the age of 40 who have diabetes to be taking Aspirin every day. The American Heart Association recommends 75 to 162 mg/day of Aspirin. Before you start taking Aspirin, of course, consult your Doctor. Aspirin thins your blood and may be good for your heart and help against certain kinds of strokes. Do not take Aspirin during a stroke as some strokes are caused by bleeding and Aspirin would just make it more severe! Do a search on "Diabetes and Aspirin" to verify this study.
