Eva Franco- A Guide to Eva Franco & Fashion
Born in Transylvania, surrounded by gypsies and traditional Hungarian clothing in her early years, Eva Franco was developing her unique perspective on clothing from a young age. After graduating from FIT, Franco went to Paris where she partnered with Etienne Brunnell on projects such as creating designer suits from burlap and other unlikely fabrics. Franco's first line, Evaline, was successful, as was her tiny business custom making dresses for women in L.A.
Franco's signature pieces in her early collections were all halter dresses. With their custom-tailored fits, unique trims, and creative embroidery, these dresses were feminine and sexy. Franco focuses on dresses that can make the transition from day into evening, suitable for both a professional environment and a night with friends or a date.
Eva Franco has also designed an extensive selection of halter tops. Among these are the rustic Marilyn halter top, which features straps that tie around the neck and is available in colors such as chocolate brown, pink, and red striped. Her halter twist tunic, unlike the Marilyn halter, includes additional detailing at the bust with an embroidered patch. The ribbon halter top incorporates an empire waist with a ribbon of a contrasting color.
There are many distinctive international influences in Franco's collections. The fabrics she uses are almost all European, and design elements are taken from everything from Moroccan tiles to antique tea pots. Franco is currently planning the release of a new line of tops in 2007, which is to be called the Violet Collection.
