When you flip through a catalog or your favorite home decorating magazine, you always see those designer bedding ensembles that always look sooo luxurious and inviting. As a designer I know layering is the key to a beautiful bed. It's not always quantity, but the proportions used that makes the difference. The first and very important layer is the Euro Sham. Think of the Euro Sham as the foundation that every other layer will be built on. The ideal size would be a 26"-27" square, with a nice plump down or synthetic fill. The Euro Shams stand up against the headboard and will support our next layer, the standard sham.

When purchasing shams it's always better to buy the size for your bed. For example, if you have a King size, then buy King Shams. It will really make a difference. After you place the shams in front of the Euro, all you really need is one beautiful throw pillow. A bolster or round pillow would be the best shape to juxtapose all of the square and rectangular pillows.

If you really want to go the extra mile, you can place a beautiful throw at the foot of your bed and Voila! Your bed will be designer fabulous too!
