MISLEADING AUCTIONS BEWARE!

This guide I am writing is being writen in hopes that it will help some buyers before they fall prey to the large amount of these sellers that are selling these unsearched coin auctions. This is a basic guide as you the buyer will have to be the one that decides weather its a good deal or not but as the old saying says "If its to good to be true it probably is". There seems to be many sellers that are now flairing up with these auctions with titles like Huge Estate Coin Sale, or 2,000,000 Silver Coins for sale etc......These are starting to pop up everywhere. As I personally have been lucky some I know have not. Some have fallen prey to these people that are basicly our to just make a fast buck.

First if you are going to or are considering buying from one of these deals then there are some simple tips that you can follow that may help you with your transaction.

1. Look at the sellers feedback FIRST! Negitives, Neutrals, all of it. Research back as many pages as need be to see what type of feedback they are being left. Many times these feedbacks will tell you what type of coins and the conditions they are selling are.

2. Believe me when I say if the auction says "Unsearched" chances are that it is not. My favorites are the auctions that state the coins are unsearched yet then they turn around and show you pictures of the coins you would be receiving. First off I thought a grab bag is something that no one knows whats in it. In order for it to be unsearched then no one could know whats in it. As state in #1 above look at the feedback as a lot of time the feedback will tell you weather they are selling junk or if its a real deal. Also look at the positive feedback as these sellers have now figured out how to pad their feedback.

3. ebay has regulations regarding negitive feedbacks and how the percentage is affected. However thats where the padding of feedback comes in from. Many of these sellers have mulitiple ebay accounts and they do a lot of buying from each other in order to list and pad the feedback. Ways of seeing this is follow through with checking out their feedback regardless of how far you have to go back. In my opinon if a seller has as many negitive feedbacks each month as some of them do then there is a serious problem within their company that they are not addressing.

4. A friend of mine recently did a test of these types of sales and they were asstounded by what they found out. They bought two different auctions from supposely two different sellers. They paid with paypal imediately. After waiting at least two weeks or more to receive their items they were shocked when their packages arrived as they both were mailed the same day and postmarked from the same city, yet it was two different sellers in supposely two different parts of the country. It got better. Upon opening the packages they discovered that the contents of both packages were identicial with the exception of one of the wheat pennies. Plus all the contents were as described they got one coin from the franklins, and kennedys, and so forth. The condition of these coins was probably aount as bad as it gets. There is not even a grade to describe these coins. Upon contacting the sellers regarding these coins the sellers one seller was very nasty towards him and when told that he was filing a complaint with ebay the seller told him "go ahead your negitive feedback wont effect my rating" To make a long story short, he did file his complaint with ebay and nothing ever came of it or if it did ebays policy is not to disclose what actions they take against bad sellers.

5. The best piece of advise I can give you is if it's to good to be true it probably is. Be cautious and check them out first before bidding and remember more then anything you get what you pay for.

Thanks
