I was proud when I got mine. It was beautiful and probably the best guitar I've ever bought. Then I noticed that the neck had hairline fractures all around. I'm no expert and can't really tell whether it's just a cosmetic flaw or if there is more damage underneath the surface. All I know is that I couldn't keep it. So if you buy one beware that you may just get one like that. Ask before you buy, unless you are willing to own one at any cost.
The guitar has a list price way above $400 dollars, which is what I paid. Actually, it's value is above or at $1000 USD. I did get to test it for two days. The guitar is beyond beautiful, the finish and the feel of the neck is excellent for all those Gibson or Les Paul neck lovers. The pickups were EMG's, an 81 at the bridge and an 85 on the neck. Without a doubt EMG pickups are excellent in quality. I've played some DiMarzio pickups but never Active pickups. With EMG's there is an extra long sustain, clean or dirty the sound is flawless.
If you have one without any imperfections then you in my opinion have the perfect guitar. Well, at least for the value of what I paid for, before returning it. Musician's Friend was selling a few for $399, but it has been discontinued since then.
Just to review this review, it was a warning to those looking for this Discontinuted Model and it was a review for both Epiphone guitars and EMG Active humbuckers.
Epiphone guitars are just as great as Gibson guitars at a bargain price, and EMG Active pickups are worth every penny!
