Ok, as promised, this is the second in my series of guides about the Epila Laser Hair Remover.

Allow me to introduce myself.  I am the Jude part of this eBay user ID.  I am 37, female caucasian of fair complexion.  My eye colour is blue and my natural hair colour is brunette with auburn undertones.  The problem hair that I have been trying for years to remove is in a few very common places:  mostly my chin, the area under my chin and my upper lip.  About 95% of the hairs are black, and the other 5% are white.

If you have any experience with laser hair removal or have done any research on the subject, you will understand the relevance of the previous information.  If you are a newbie, let me explain:  laser hair removal works better on fair skinned subjects with naturally dark hair.  The fairer the skin and the darker the hair, the better the results should be.  Those of us with blue eyes tend to be fairer skinned than those with brown eyes.  And redheads are usually EXTREMELY fair skinned.  Auburn falls between brunette and red, so I'm not the palest person in the world, but I am very fair skinned.  In addition, white hairs (like a small percentage of my problem hairs) cannot be removed with a laser, those will require electrolysis.

I have been overweight most of my life.  As a rule, the more extra weight a woman carries, the more likely she is to have unwanted hair growth.  In my twenties, my chubbiness became obesity.  At my highest measured weight, I was 347 pounds.  When I was 28 years old, I had a gastric bypass, also known as stomach stapling.  The surgery was a success; I have lost more than 150 pounds and have kept it off for almost 10 years.  Sadly, the unwanted hair is permanent.

At home, I have plucked, tweezed, waxed and sugared my unwanted hair.  I also have an electric epilator which I have used extensively.  On a few occasions, I have tried chemical epilators, but they always give me chemical burns.  I even tried a hair "buffer" once.  The commercial made it look so easy.  I might as well have used a belt sander on my face.  The hair was certainly gone, but so was most of my skin.  I had scabs for weeks.

In my twenties, I had dozens of "tweezer electrolysis" treatments.  Unlike traditional electrolysis, which uses a tiny probe that goes into the pore and zaps the hair follicle, this type of treatment uses electrified tweezers to send the zap down the hair shaft.  When the hair kept growing back, my beautician told me it was NOT the same hair, hairs were growing from different follicles.  I wanted to believe her, really I did, so I kept giving her twenty bucks every week to continue deluding me.

NONE of these treatments proved permanent.

In my early thirties, I started going for professional laser hair removal treatments.  I saw some permanent results from these sessions, but $117 per treatment made it impossible for me to have more than three visits and I had to give up on this option.
