Cargo Trailers. They're everywhere. So how do you know which brand or model to buy?

It's easy. Do your home work first! Research brand name recognition. Quality. Dealer or Broker reputation & experience.

Most manufacturers use similar construction techniques. Steel frames, aluminum exterior, galvalume or aluminum roof, dropped axles, aluminum fenders, plywood interior, etc.

What buyers need to look for is the frame design & construction. Look for 16" on center floors & sidewalls. The thickness will probablly be 1 inch, however some are now using 1.5 inch. That's even better. A Tubular frame is the most popular. Some larger 16 footers and most car haulers will have tubular or I-Beam frames. Both are excellent.

For the exterior .030 - .040 mil aluminum exterior aluminum is standard. Some are using .024 mil, which is acceptable, but go for the thicker exterior. Semi-Screwless exterior gives a more finished, smooth look. The less exterior screws, the smoother look. Note: Screwless exterior is becoming very popular. Be sure that the manufacturer you buy from is experienced in this type of installtion.

Axles: You will hear that Dexter axles are the best. I will agree. However, Alko axles and Quality axles are very good too. There are other brands too, but these are the most widely used. Wheels are usually standard steel 15 inch with bias ply tires. Fine for light to medium loads. For car haulers, opt for the radial upgrade or a high rated bias ply tires.

V Nose trailers are definitely my choice! They seem to pull better and they give more room inside the trailer for storage. Less wind drag equals better fuel mileage equals money saved!

Service. Find a seller that is happy to have your bsuiness. See if they are willing to email you a professional quote with pictures and follow up on your request. Look for sellers that doesn't have hidden fees or surcharges. References are also great.

Never wire money to a seller. It is too risky and very unprofessional! Most reputable sellers will allow credit card, paypal transactions or offer to take your personal check. Check local banks, chamber of commerce, places they advertise, etc. to see how reliable they really are.

All in all, the chances of gettiing ripped off are very slim. Just be cautious and observant. Visit acecargotrailers for more information on obtaining trailers at wholesale prices.

Thanks and God Bless.
