"Emperor of the Sea" is a Korean Drama series of 50 DVD's.  This is not an easy set to locate. Apparently there are a lot of dishonest sellers of this set on ebay. Below are things that have helped me to fish out the good from the pirated copies.

When I have inquired about authenticity I never receive a reply.  Also after a search for this  DVD set I get a lot of emails offering the set to me at a good price.  These have either been phising or outside of ebay selling guidelines.  Just be very careful when buying an asian DVD, I have been burned twice with pirated copies that are not viewable.

All I can tell you to help avoid being ripped off is to look carefully at the seller ID.  The "sellers" sending me email's either have 0% seller rating, or have an ok rateing but have changed their seller ID every 1 to 3 months.  Not receiving a response to a direct question about the DVD has also been a clue.  Be careful if you bid on one, don't win, and suddenly get an email seemingly from the seller you bid with offering you another set.  Looking over this carefully it will be obvious this is not through ebay, or if it is, it is not from the seller you bid with.  Please do not click on the "respond now" button.  I did this and found out they were phising, fortunately no damage was done.  I would not buy any from an overseas seller not accepting pay pal (this should be obvious but stupid me, I wanted the DVD so much I fell into a trap).  The problem with the pirated copies, besides being illegal, is the quality of the copy, they are so bad the DVD is not viewable.

Interestingly, I recently posted a request on "want it now" for this set and have not received one response from my posting.  But have received many email's unrelated to my "want it now" posting offering the set for sale directly.  When I go to these sellers listing I cannot find the DVD set on their site.  I have emailed the seller as to why this is and do not get a response.

Ask the following from the seller:  is this an original copy, does it play on USA DVD players, are the subtitles in english and is it used or new.  Ask even if the listing claims all of the above.  An honest seller will answer your concerns.

Look over Ebay's information regarding purchasing DVD's for lot's of additional helpful info.

It is sad that ebay is rampart with "Emperor of the Sea" DVD dishonesty.
