No need to purchase any of the expensive products at a pet store. I already had these products on hand. You need:
1. Peroxide (Amount dependent on dog size & hair length)
2. Baking Soda (Amount Varies)
3. 2 Squirts (About 3 Tablespoons) dish liquid
3. Vinegar (Amount Varies)
4. Rubber Gloves (Protect your skin)
This process should be done outside.
Step 1
Mix peroxide, dish liquid, and baking soda in a bowl. Make enough paste to cover your dog from head to paws. (A little watery works best)
Step 2
Saturate your dog with Step 1 mixture starting from the ears back. (Avoid eyes) Rub mixture in well, completely covering fur. Rub into fur until you have a light paste over entire coat. (Wait 15 minutes)
Step 3
Avoid eyes! Pour vinegar over dog from ears to tail. (This will cause a large foaming reaction) Repeat.
Step 4
Rinse dog well with water. Towel dry and allow dog to completely dry outside.
This process took all of 1 hour. Dog was odorless with a beautiful shiny coat and happy.
Additional notes:
My dog was let back into the house before realizing she was sprayed. GAG! Febreze Air Effects removed the odor from the house almost instantly, Febreze Extra Strength formula removed the odor from dogs bed and combined with Renuzit Odor Neutralizer my couch was saved.
