No More Pocket Gophers in Your Field or Yard! Proven Method works and it's FREE!
Here's my method for ridding your farm fields of pocket gophers that is FAST and EASY, very painless and is permanent.
You've seen those piles of black dirt and clay moving across your fields or lawn. Pocket Gophers move underground and come up very early in the morning. They are ugly little buggers that almost look prehistoric. The damage they do to farm fields, ditches and lawns is an eyesore, but now you can get rid of them.
We all know that you shouldn't leave your car running in your garage because carbon monoxide will kill you. The same concept gets rid of pocket gophers.
Here's the easy method. Find the most recent pocket gopher mound (the one with the darkest, wettest dirt). On one side of the mound, you'll see a half-moon design and all the dirt is piled behind that half-moon. The dirt is pushed in the opposite direction that the pocket gopher is digging. Use your shovel to dig straight down in front of the half-moon and in front of the dirt pile. What you're trying to do is find the gopher's runner or path underground. Dig down about 10-12 inches and you'll see the 2-inch hole which is where the gopher is headed.
Use a sump pump hose and perhaps some duct tape to firmly attach the hose to your car, four-wheeler or pickup exhaust pipe. Park next to the hole you just dug. Fit the hose over your car's tailpipe or the tailpipe of your four-wheeler or pickup. Once you have the hose attached, stick the open end of the sump pump hose down into the hole and fit it into the gopher's 2-inch runner trail. Cover up the sump hose end with the excess dirt so it creates an air-tight seal inside the hole.
Using the concept of carbon monoxide from your exhaust pipe, which is poisonous, odorless and can put you to sleep permanently, you are in essence, putting the pocket gophers to sleep forever. Let your vehicle run for a few minutes so the hole is filled with exhaust fumes and the gopher just goes to sleep and never wakes up. It is painless, much faster than gopher poison pellets which make the gopher bleed to death internally, and it works 100% of the time, first time everytime.
Some of you may think this is inhumane, but it is very humane, painless and permanent. I've used this method many, many times to get rid of the lawn-ruining critters or to eliminate pocket gophers from my fields and ditches. They are busy little buggers and can do a ton of damage if not controlled.
The key is to dig in front of the half-moon on the shallow side of the dirt mound. Dig down 10-12 inches and look for the runner hole. Attach your sump hose to your exhaust pipe and run the other end into the hole and cover it with dirt. Let your car, pickup, four-wheeler or tractor run for 10 minutes, then pull your hose out and finish covering the hole again. Rake out the dirt and your pocket gopher problem is gone. You can rake out the other dirt mounds and nature will take care of the rest.
