I recently purchased a Titan SCR-2 or the N-120 Tankless electric water heater.  After installing this incredibly small unit I was uncertain it would be adequate for my needs. I now am a firm believer that this is one of the greatest product i have ever purchased for my home it works GREAT! and will have saved enough money on my utility bill that i will have got my money back on it in four months.  This is with out a doubt the only way one should heat there water and save money. total cost and install with 40 foot 6\2 copper wire, separate 60 amp box and the Titan SCR-2 was $295.00 with a ten year warranty.

Well its been about a month now and I can give you a little more insight on the Titan Tankless Electric Water Heater. I’m going to break it down in the categories of pros and cons starting with the pros.

Pros

Purchase Cost: Yes I had to buy another because my dad had to have one too. Well, he’s getting close to 90 years old so when he asked me what kinda warranty it has I simple said, Dad it has a lifetime warranty. He was so impressed with that he just had to have one, but for most people it has a 10 year warranty. Total cost $190.50 + free shipping.

Endless Hot Water:   Now you never have to say, "Sweetie Pie, Shmoopies, if you would, please don’t use up all the *$#@!*# hot water I need a shower too, and now I also get to keep my marriage, because according to the new stats using up all the hot water is now the #1 reason for divorce, plus I spend less time on the couch for swearing.

Space Saver:   Get rid of that big lump of high cost water heater that taking up space that you can use to save other useless junk. I myself use my space for a broken beta VCR, dented beer keg, most of the Christmas decorations I keep promising to put up every year but don’t, and some of my dirty underwear my wife doesn't want to mix with her good white laundry. You would think that she could use the same principle of knocking the sh*%#t out of me to my underwear then she would have the perfect laundry. Unit size 7 1/4" wide x 10 1/4" high x 2 1/4" thick. About the size of HuckleBuck county phone book.

It’s Electric:   Yes that’s right, no more baring the burden of paying the high price or over price Gas. Gas is way more expensive than electric, but of course the highest price I payed for gas was at the dinner table but that's another story. What I’m talking about is it won’t hurt your wallet as opposed too pulling a groin mussel trying to get away from dinner table.

Installation:   Not to hard for the one who can do basic pluming & electrical, I installed mine myself that should give you some idea how easy it is. I used ½ copper pipping couple elbows and 6-2 wiring now that's pretty heavy wire but its pretty cheap if you go to lowe’s. I had a long run so using heavier wiring has less resistance and will not eat up the energy. I had to go 40 foot. You can use 8-2 which is a smaller wire if you are going to only run 10 foot or less, also if you don’t have a 200 amp service box you will have to put in a separate box like I did . not expensive around 12 bucks for a box plus 8 bucks for a 60 amp breaker. You must use a 60 amp.  At first I used the 30 amp but the wife had to wait by the breaker box as I took a shower and hold it on, this was a big mistake. She got shocked and I had a cold shower and bed. So use the 60 amp that way you don’t take up more of your precious space you saved with your dirty underwear.

Utility Cost:   60% less energy than a typical water heater, and that's 60% more for beer and the swear jar, as for the electric company that's good news too, less time for them calling my phone that I don’t answer to tell me how late and how much I owe.

There are more pros but I’m only a month into it I will keep you updated and let you know how its going.

As for the cons their are not many at all but for the first you will not be able to go over 2 gpm. That is why I installed a throttle valve. typically when you pour a bath it will be around 3.5 gpm typical shower will be 2 to 2.5 gpm. You will not be able to tell the differences from 2 to 2.5 but the bath water will take a couple of minutes longer to pour. That's about it for the cons.

I would like to add in all seriousness that this is a great product and I sincerely did get rid of my gas 42 gal. hot water heater.  You will not go wrong with this hot water heater.

My wife and I only take showers so if your big on baths then it will still save you money but will take a little longer to pour. Baths do take up more hot water so if you have one person in the family that is a bather the others will not have to worry about that one or two using up all the hot water.

The pictures below will show the size on the first picture, second picture is the throttle valve installed, the gray cable is the 6-2 copper coming into the separate box with a 60 amp and the last picture is 8-2 that is with the hot water heater when you get it. and the controls on the heater itself.

If you find this of some help please click on the yes it did button, and if not then click on the no it didn't help button. Thanks, and I would like to take your emails if you have any questions or need some help with installation.

thanks

P.S.  I will try to help in any way I can, and answer you questions you may have.

Well it's been a couple of months now and still married thanks to my tankless water heater.  It is still working great for the showers and such. My electric bill came and did not notice much change in it, it jumped up about 25 bucks. my gas bill is around 60 to 80 bucks a month with only running a gas water heater, yeah that's right it will cost you that much to run gas, well it cost me that much. hold on, girls gone wild commercial is on............................... OK anyway I am going to have an instructional video here so you can get the most of installation and use. so check back.

I'm back and the date is 2-13-2008  Still loving my water heater and now there is a new one on the market and I believe it is your best choice. It's the Titan 180, it's a bigger unit cost around 400.00 bucks but well worth it so go for it and also go for only the electric model.  you are going to thank me no doubt.  I wish the 180 was on the market when I purchased my 120 but I sill like it very much.

And I'm still married, that's a good thing.  now that Valentines day is coming up I am going to Install a double shower head in the other bath room.  Yup you guest it, me and the little lady will now be saving some H2O.    Hey by the way visit my website. If you want to send donations to the Blane ain't got S#@#* fund be my guest.  the address is on the site. All proceeds will benefit only me.    richsphoto.com when you get there let me know what I could do to make it a better site and leave me some feed back. When you are on the site don't be afraid to ask for help in the area of photography.  I have another website coming up and I will let you know when its up and running. The website will be for my stand-up crap.  I'm not funny but the other comedians seem much more appealing after me, that's why they let me do it.

Me and my ol buds, so after reading my guide what do you think I do for a living, LOL, yup I'm a Plumber.  and by the way that's me on the right end.
