If you have sheep, you probably know that you need to shear them at least once a year. When we started with our first flock of sheep, we did not know what we need. We tried our first sheep with hand shears. But after 5 minutes and not a lot of progress, we gave up.

So we looked for electric shears. Electric shears have three basic components: the hand piece, the comb and the cutters. Cutters generally have 4 points and attach to the hand piece by way of four fingers that press them firmly against the comb.
Here is a list of the major sheep shearing devices you might find on eBay:
Expect to pay US$220-500 for a good set of new electric shears.
And if you have time, spend some time in a sheep shearing school. Courses are done for example by the University of Tennessee Extension Service, the South Dakota State University, the Montana State University, and other universities around the country. Just search for "Sheep Shearing School" on your favorite search engine. It is worth your time and money.
