Now that Ebay has added a new feature called Cross Promotion Connection, allowing sellers to link their items with other sellers' items, some Ebayers have wondered how to make of most of it - or even whether they should use it. I say Yes, absolutely, take advantage of this tool but consider what you want to get out of it. How will it benefit you? I hope this guide answers some of those questions. You can get more answers here: Cross Promotion Connections

After testing out this great new feature, I've tweaked things to make the most of Cross Promotions with other sellers. Following these steps have resulted in better sales:

1. First, think about why you'd want to take advantage of  Cross Promotions. What can you gain from linking up with other sellers? Which sellers have items that are likely to result in increased sales for BOTH of you, yet not be too competitive, favoring one seller over another? Aim for a fair balance.

For example, if you sell Children's books, linking up with someone who sells stuffed animals or children's toys might be a good match. I sell books and connect with sellers who do the same but we each have our niche areas and interests. I think this works well.

2. Look carefully at the other seller's feedback. Try to find someone who has a good track record, steady sales and (ideally) repeat customers. That way you'll have a solid Ebayer to work with. Also, you may not want to link with someone who is likely to disappoint a customer or disappear from Ebay in short order. Aim for a longterm connection, perhaps even buying from one another once in awhile.

3. Try to find someone with items in a similar price range - or someone who sells LOTS of items per month. This way, you'll up the number of views you'll get with each sale - both from their customers and yours. You'll both benefit and it'll be a fair balance.  Also, you're more likely to have sales if your items are in a similar price range as your Connection partner and target buyers who prefer items in a particular price range.

4. Don't feel obligated to accept EVERY cross Conection or Promotion offer. Some sellers will have buyers who are more likely to relate to your items than others. You are NOT obligated to accept an invitation. But DO decline gracefully and leave the door open for reconsideration down the line.

5. Experiment. You might be surprised to discover that people who look at very unrelated items are also interested in yours. See what works, tweak the connections and learn as you go along

And, of course, HAVE FUN! Taking advantage of new changes and features can keep you on your toes and up your learning curve!
