Are you guys kidding?, Look at the guitar manufacturers products. You are lucky if 10% of things even come close. I played an expensive Fender Strat the other day. Some guy was shreading it pretty good. When he finished, I tried to paly the same guitar, Chet Atkins style. The guitar was horrendous. The first 3 frets kept the higher pitched strings in a bind constently. THis guitar needed some serious neck work as did at least 10 onteh guitars I tried to play. The moral of this story, that it doesn't matter if you pickup a Taylor Dreadnaught, Fender, Carvin, Dean, etc. They ALL need work. ANY guitar that is hand fitted, shaped, carressed, and cared for will NEVER sound pure. I build custom guitars and have had my share of all types, shapes, brands, and downright cussedness from all the major brands. All are GREAT guitars. Just temember, they all started fron a piece of wood that Mother Nature entrusted to us to turn into a beautifully sounding instrument. WE are the ones being entrusted. Maybe we should all take our jobs more seriously. If I sounded too critical of all of you fine luthiers out there, it's not to be taken that way. God trusts to use one of the most wonderful creations to make ourselves happy. We use our trees to build our homes, warm them, shelter us from the elements....etc. He also made it sweeter by adding music to our lives. So, all in all, what difference does it make if the woods are a little diffrent in grain, or has a chip in it somewhere? Those, my friends are man made. God makes things PERFECT everytime. Maybe we should be more toleratnt.
Have a wonderful and music filled day,
Jerry Guest
