Since October, sellers are no longer allowed to list a grade with a number attached to it in the title of coin auctions for raw coins. Only coins graded by the top 4 grading companies may have this numbered grade in the title. However, sellers are welcome to write any grade with any number they choose in the listing. This is bogus in more ways than one. First, who made PCGS, NGC, etc Gods. I wonder, and this is just speculation, that some of these companies may have paid ebay some money. I have no info to back that up. Grading is subjective, and it dosen't matter if it is done by a third party grading company or by someone who dosen't know what they are doing. Even the grading companies have gotten in trouble with "first day of issue" coins. What ebay is really trying to do is stop coin sellers from putting MS 66/67+++ in the title of coins that are AU at best and are confusing unknowledgeable buyers. I say buyer beware. This is what ebay feedback is for. If we can list the grade in the description, we should be able to list it in the title. And I can still write that my coin is AU in the title when it is really a cruddy AG 3! This policy stinks and needs to go. I wrote ebay an email about this an never got a reply. I'm sure they have heard from others.
