Hi,
I've been with Ebay selling for a few years. At first, in 2005 I started selling digital items. This was a good place for me to get the ropes of Ebay. I'd purchase other digital items from others with Resell rights, and would resell sell them myself. I made about 2,000 dollars in 5 or 6 months. Not anything great, but not bad either I was able to learn the ins and outs of Ebay.
I unfortunetly purchased a digital ebook called," the rich jerk" for $2.99. The listing stated it had resell rights, so I listed it for sale. To my disappointment, my listing was pulled from Ebay the following day due to copy right infringement. The owner of the ebook saw my listing and contacted Ebay's Trust and safety. that happened back in 2006. I tried everything i could to clear my name, but to no avail. I spent over 3 days working on clearing my name... well, enough said about that. I just can't sell certain items now. Like, expensive watches or handbags... things that a counterfeiter would try to sell.
I could deal with that. So lately, Ive been selling books. I signed up with Amazon with Prime shipping.. cost is 80 dollars per year, and you can ship your items free! I signed up 2 months ago with that and started reselling again on Ebay after a couple years not selling. I was doing pretty good! selling about 400 bucks per week. One of the pitfalls selling Amazon products on Ebay is lack of pricing control. I would copy and paste a url for an item. when the item sold, I would copy and paste the url, and never know if the price was going to be the same. I had to end numerous listing because of this. Last month, I was selling the triology of Indian jones. My price from Amazon was 24.99! I was selling so many, I listed a featured Plus lisitng. Then the next day, the price jumped from 24.99 to 42.99. this was a major blow to me. I had to end my Featured plus listing and lost 24.99 on that one.
Amazon sent me an email today stating I can no longer use there Prime.... another"bash to the head" The Amazon prime program is for your personal use, not to resell to others. So if anyone out there was thinking about it.. you might want to think again...Well, I had nothing else to do, but remove my 140 listings tonight *sighs*
I'm really a positive person, but i know this blog might sound a lil depressive, forgive me please. Now, I have some more expressive words to convey....
My objective was to reach power seller status.. I was almost there too! So close. Requirements. sell $1000 worth of goods per 3 consecutive months (i was doing that), and to maintain a positive feedback rating of 98 or higher. Today, i got a Nuetral rating and it dropped my rating an entire point! lol. my rating now is 97.9. (another bash in the head) Within an entire year, Ive had not one negative feedback. I'm really upset, but then again, I think, "why should i let any outside factor influence my mood.
I just can't understand the new feedback systems that allows a Nuetral to be the same as a negative. but then again, I shouldn't be so hung-up on this either. Life is more than how I perform on Ebay.
I've spent the last year researching trying to find drop shippers. Ive signed up with megagoods, Doba, and shopster, and don't recommend them to anyone. some of the programs have nice features, but basically it's junk they sell. Now, I thinking about signing up with World Wide Brands.. the cost is a one time fee of 300 dollars. And would like to know if anyone can recommend WWB. if so contact me please!
I'm a self taught Webmaster. My site is, if interested.. thejoyluckclub.com
I'm trying to break through to the online selling world, and need help. maybe pointed to the right direction.
Ive noticed another funny thing with Ebay lately also. My listings might not sell for an entire day, then all of a sudden, i got sales left and right. Ebay implemented a new program, that pushes listings with high shipping fee's into the back. I think thats good, but also bad. It's twofold. For me selling books, I would list a book that cost me $4.99 (remmember i get free shipping. used to) I'd list the book for $2.99, shipping of $3.99.. this way, i make $1.50 each sale after fee's.
I see other sellers that can sell the same book or item, for less than my cost and the free shipping, and i wonder how they do this? Are they buying 100's of books and get discounts? the same thing with DVD's .. If anyone can help my find this anser is gold!
Another thing i hate is seeing people selling things for .01
I mean, i can see bidding on a car, a boat, but a book? I think its a lil out of hand. They should not allow bidding on items under $10.00 retail value
Steve's new Ebay program implementations
Buy.com is not allowed to sell on Ebay nor any other major Deptpartment store ( it's hard to compete selling anything, except for used items)
No ads will be on Ebay's site, other than Ebay ads ( Ive sold many types of things only to find an Advertising like of the identical thing for less!) this is hard for me to understand why Ebay would do this? Ebay wants you to sell your item, but why would they allow an advertisment with the same thing?
No bidding on items under $25.00 (only Buy it now)
Nuetral feedbacks, do not affect feedback score
Trust and safety will have phone numbers to call them.
PayPal becomes a real bank, thus stopping there 21 day hold on your money
It's funny but now days any time you type in a product to search for like say a Dremel , you see 2 or 3 websites with prices
Shopping results for dremel Dremel 300Series 55pc. Rotary Tool Set $59.99 - Target
Dremel 7.2V Cordless Multipro 50pc ... $39.99 - Target
Dremel 400-3/71 Series XPR 2 Amp 5000 to ... $99.95 - Amazon.com
See dremel results available through Google Checkout
Soon, it will be the entire first page! It will look like the above but the entire page. The browser will have to have a sort by price button.
My point is: the entire web itself is becoming the store. If the entire website is the store, where is Ebay in the picture then? You can pic and choose with out having to go into any website! So i think Google will become the new Ebay.
Well, i have vented! thanks for listening to me bark, i feel better now. Please email me with any answers, or just add on to this blog. Happy selling!
Steve
