I guess you could say I'm in the diaper years of my ebay journey, which in itself means, I have a lot to learn about the power of the tools provided by ebay, but with each passing day the path is starting to clear. When I began just a few months ago, I had no idea of Ebay's marketing power, but after a few short weeks I realized that there was NO other online presence that could provide our family business with the kind of exposure that ebay provides. My only regret is that I didn't start this years ago.
Ebay keywords, for those who do not know, ebay provides a way for sellers to compete over keywords, which enables sellers to gain more exposure to targeted potential buyers of their service or goods. This process is done with a BIDDING auction type system. The bidder willing to give the highest bid on keywords such as ***Cell phones***Jewelry***Home decor*** and other potential keywords, will have their campaign banner (or sales pitch) show up the most times when a search is using the targeted keyword. I WAS EXTREMELY AMAZED AT HOW THIS EXPLODED TRAFFIC INTO MY LISTINGS! All though I didn't have too many sales from this explosion of traffic, which is primarily my fault since I DID NOT TARGET MY NICH AREA! Nether less I was blown away....After all it was my first time using the keyword system. (The only way to learn is to dive in and experience the bad and the good, and the knowledge we gain will only benefit us as we drive forward)
My first campaign lasted 35 hours!!!! WHAT? 35 hours....and the $90 budget was completely gone!!! One might be a little ticked at how fast the 90 dollars was spent and the campaign didn't bring many sales, but I wasn't. I did this purposely to test the waters and I saw the potential. What did $90 dollars get me?......272 clicks....Doesn't sound like much, but if you consider the number resolutions my ad made.....734,670 times my campaign add popped up during searches (Now that is a lot exposure for $90 dollars) Yes you could say it was only clicked 272 times, but over 700 THOUSAND times the add popped up, imagine if even a small percentage of the wonderful people on ebay who searched during this 35 hour period and just happened to glance at the ad, maybe wrote PriceJRS down for later consideration and future viewing or made a mental log of the ad, that 272 clicks could in the end turn too thousands of clicks in the future. I am not aware of anywhere else on the web I could receive that kind of exposure for just $90 dollars.....As sellers we all know that our success depends on our products landing into the hands of buyers who want or need our wonderful products.....Which is why exposure is so important......I thank you for taking the time to read this guide and hope you ebaying future if filled with nothing but heart felt golden experiences, and wish the best to you all!!!!
What Not to do on ebay keywords......
1. Do not waste money on keywords that do not reach your potential buyers market!
Example: If you sell cell phones, you do not want to waste you advertising dollars on keywords that describe clothing. A buyer usually knows what he or she is looking for and will search for that item or identical item only, if they are looking for a Nike shirt, do you think they will waste their time looking at your cell phones, probably not, there is a chance they might check it out, but your chance of a sale is very very slim....You want to target keywords such as Motorola, cell phones (which is a rather expensive bid by the way!!), wireless, nokia, etc....
2. Do not spend all your budget in one campaign! (unless it is working)
Note: Keep your initial test campaigns small, just to test it. If the add is turning into sales, then increase the funding, if the ad isn't producing, well then shut it down....basic common sense here...How will you know if it is working? Trust me you will instantly know when it is working...
3. Do not create a rush ad!
What do I mean? An ad made in a matter of two seconds, the first words that popped out of your head....Think it though!! I cannot express the importance of this.....Take a day or two and turn words sideways, upside-down, backwards, play with different possibilities, after you soul search then write your ad, you be amazed at what you can do!!!!!
4. I am Not sure yet, but I'll let you know when I find it out??????????? EXPERIENCE TURNS TO KNOWLEDGE.........
Good luck.....PriceJRS.....buying made easy......
